Have you seen our latest blog posts?

We've written about concrete countertops, and where you can find designers, suppliers and installers in BC.

And also about dishwashers built for two, the slimline or drawer design dishwasher.

not your grandma's kitchen flooring...

Vinyl flooring isn't what it used to be. It's so much better. Check out Bolon's woven vinyl flooring:

That introductory vid alone is worth the click. Bolon's vivid colour options, subtle vs. bold texture choices, and environmentally conscious approach will keep you clicking. Who knew vinyl flooring could be sexy...

Do you incorporate vinyl into your designs?

Stay inspired,
Lisa

custom ink...

I recently started following this company on Twitter. They followed back and I really enjoyed checking out their stuff online. This is a great concept that I can definitely see using in future:

Modern Bird Studios takes original photographs and converts them into new works with a bi- or multi-coloured interpretation.

Have you ever used something like this in your design work or in your own home?

Take care,
Lisa

first of friday treats...

In the spirit of sending out #ff shout-outs on Twitter at the end of each week, I thought it would be nice to try to come up with a treat to post each week on our blog. Whether you've had a long week full of challenges, or your week sped by swimmingly, the idea is to give you something fun/inspiring/interesting/hillarious to kick off your weekend. In any case, this will be something you can check out online and share with friends if you like. I encourage you to leave comments or send us an email (info@projectdome.ca) if you have comments or suggestions to share. I will try to have one every week for you, so your feedback would be very helpful!

So without further ado, our first ever Fun Friday post...

Check out:

Where you'll find:
Hillarious and unfortunate text messages courtesey of iPhone autocorrect. If you have an iPhone, you've likely had an experience or two like this yourself. If not, read enough of them and you'll catch on fast.

Tips:
- Prepare yourself for some foul language.
- Do not attempt to eat or drink anything while reading these or listening to anyone read them.
- If you aren't struggling to control your laughter after reading through a handful of these, try reading them out loud to a friend using your left and right index fingers like puppets to indicate the two sides of the exchange... So worth it!

The following is a rather tame, more "office appropriate" sampling:

Hope you have a Fun Friday and and even better weekend!

Enjoy,
Lisa

P.S. I'm serious about the no eating/drinking thing... I almost died twice yesterday. The first time was green tea, second was raspberry yogurt. Read safe, Kids!

in no time...

Just a quick note:

We joined Twitter in April 2010. On December 15 I blogged that we had just hit 100 followers. Less than one month later that number has more than doubled. I don't know how this happened. Granted I have been making a concerted effort to follow more tweeps in the last couple of weeks, but at least half of these new followers found us before I found them. This. Seems. Crazy.

I just needed to marvel at that for a moment.

Have you experienced something like that - like, marvelled at the connectivity of social media? What's the most "Holy crow!" kind of moment you've had?

Bonkers,
Lisa (for the Dome Design Team)

200 over 200 in 4...

This is just one of the coolest things I've ever seen: Global health as indicated by 200 countries over the course of 200 years shown in about 4 minutes. Granted it doesn't exactly deal with interior design, but inspiration comes from everywhere, and I think this whole sequence is just breathtaking.

Have you ever seen anything like that?

Hope you enjoy as much as I did,

drawn in: follow-up...

Great news for Mikaila Maidment - an artist we have previously featured on our blog (http://projectdome.blogspot.com/2010/11/drawn-in.html). She was interviewed by an American publication recently. The interview was a terrific show-case of her influences and philosophies. Give 'er a read.

Congrats, Kail!

Enjoy, Lisa (for the Dome Design Team)

P.S. The auther she mentions at the end there is my sister... Keep your eyes open for word of Rebecca Zak's forth-coming English/Mandarin children's book!
